Bell Aliant Referral Program
Today, the Company is introducing a referral program whereby non-union employees can win gift cards and prizes for referring friends, family etc to purchase services with Bell Aliant.
The Company met with the executive of Unifor ACL recently and presented this program, requesting our endorsement to our members. After reviewing & discussing the details of the program, we have decided to step back from the program mainly because the work generated from the referrals will go to a contractor for follow-up and order completion. We requested that the company have another look at having our unionized members complete the referral work. The company took some time and investigated it but ultimately determined that they did not have the capacity to handle the work.
It was then suggested by the union, and the company has committed, that for any future programs such as this one, the union will be invited to participate early on in the planning stages so these types of issues can be addressed.
We are currently negotiating a contract with the company and we could not agree to allow more work to be contracted out. Hopefully, with union input, we can participate in future programs that will generate more work for our members.
In solidarity,
