As per Article 10.4 (d) of the collective agreement, which states that:
“There will be no less than four (4) regularly scheduled Provincial Health & Safety meetings per year unless determined otherwise by the Policy Health & Safety Committee. These meetings will normally be held face to face”.
Unifor ACL would like to advise its membership that the Council has directed its National Representative and its Corporate Health and Safety Committee (CHSC) Representative to enact the suspension of the Provincial Health and Safety Meeting until the renewal of a new Collective Agreement.
In exchange of the suspension of the Provincial Meetings, the Union has obtained one full time and one part time Corporate Health and Safety Rep for its Outside workers. Additionally the company has agreed to a General Meeting of all Inside Worker Local Health and Safety Committee (LHSC) Members / representatives, which will be held in the Fall of 2021.
The details of such agreement, which will be up for renewal during the next round of bargaining, can be found in the MOA on Health and Safety Committees – January 15 2020 (see attachment).
As all of you may know the Health and Safety Roles have undergone many changes in the last few years, in line with Bell Canada’s Health and Safety Structure. These latest agreed upon changes announced today will help with the ever increasing work load of the Outside Corporate Health and Safety Committee while providing a greater focus on our Inside Workers Health and Safety concerns.
Consequently, it has been decided unanimously through the Unifor ACL Executive that effective immediately, the Full Time Employee Representative is Garry Fudge of Local 410. The Part Time role will be fulfill by Paul Burke of Local 2289.
The Council is also please to announce that effective immediately Faith Chaisson of Local 2289 will be joining Chuck Rouse of Local 506 on the Inside Workers Corporate Health and Safety Committee.
Congratulations to all of our Employee’s Representative for their affirmation to their role. The Unifor ACL Executive is proud to have these talented members representing our collective voice.
Please note that these reps are here to help you. So feel free to contact them if you have any questions on the Local Health and Safety Process. Each have the following provincial responsibilities.
Finally, the Council would like to extend a special thank you to all of the Local Health and Safety Committee members, representatives and Co-chairs for their continued hard work in promoting a Safe and Healthy workplace throughout our many regions of Atlantic Canada.
In solidarity,
