Unifor Atlantic Communication Locals Bulletin – Dec 8/21

Local 506 Newsletter – Uniforum 506 Dec/21 Edition
December 22, 2021

I’m sure we all hoped that this festive season would not be a duplicate of last year’s but, unfortunately, COVID is still a very real and present concern.  2020 was bad enough but at least we did not spend the whole year dealing with the pandemic unlike we have in 2021.  It has been a difficult year, but we would like to extend our thanks to all of our members for showing both their willingness to meet the challenges COVID has presented as well as for their continued support of their Local’s Executive Team.

As a more tangible sign of our appreciation, and because it is the giving season, we are also going to provide all our members with $50 Gift Card from Sobey’s to use as they see fit.  Feel free to give it as a gift, donate to a needy family or charity or even use for yourself.  All that is important is that this gift card helps to make someone’s holiday season just a little bit brighter.

In order for us to ensure that everyone gets their gift card, we would ask any members who have either moved recently or changed their phone numbers/email addresses to contact the Union office (634-8810 or unionoffice@unifor506.ca) with their updated information as soon as possible so that we can begin mailing cards out within the coming weeks.  Not only will this ensure the gift cards make their way to your current mailing address, it will also have the added benefit of ensuring that the contact information we have for our members is accurate.  And us having that information is going to be especially important for this upcoming year.

As everyone should be aware, our contract with Bell ends on December 31st, 2021 and negotiations have yet to begin.  We will want to keep our members informed of our mobilization efforts and making sure that we have their most recent contact information is the best way to make that happen.  Your local executive and your fellow members throughout Atlantic Canada are counting on every one of you to stand in solidarity so that we can present a united front once the negotiations do begin.

With all that said, the Executive of Unifor Local 506, would like to wish you and your families Seasons Greetings, Happy Holidays and a prosperous New Year!
