Hello Members of Unifor Local 506:

This is Angela Davis, chair of the 2020 Election Committee with an update for members regarding the election for Unifor Local 506 Vice President.

At the September sub-local union meetings there was one nomination for the role of Vice President.  The sole nominee, Stéphane Lamoureux, accepted the nomination at the Sept 21st Region 2 Moncton union meeting.

The Election Committee has reviewed the nominee’s résumé and is pleased to announce that by acclamation, Stéphane Lamoureux will assume the role of Vice President.  Stéphane will be sworn in at the December Executive Board meeting.

Hello Members of Unifor Local 506:

This is Angela Davis, chair of the 2020 Election Committee with an update for members regarding the upcoming election this fall.  Local 506 will be accepting nominations for the following position:

  • Unifor Local 506 Vice President with the term of office ending in 2023

Nominations will be made at the September Sub-Local meetings as follows:

  • Region 1 – Saint John Union meeting scheduled for Tuesday, September 15th 6 pm at the Union Office, 1655 Manawagonish Road.
  • Region 2 – Moncton Union meeting scheduled for Monday, September 21st 7 pm at the Days Inn, Mountain Road.
  • Region 3 – Fredericton Union meeting scheduled for Monday, September 21st 5:30 pm at the Kinsman Centre, 303 Waggoners Lane
  • Region 4 – We are unable to have union meetings in Region 4 as the CO’s are currently closed due to COVID; therefore, any Region 4 members that wish to nominate someone for the VP position can send their nomination letter and the nominee’s acceptance letter to the union office at unionoffice@unifor506.ca by September 30th.

Please note that members wishing to attend the union meetings in Saint John, Moncton and Fredericton must pre-register with their Regional Chairs as no more than 10 members can attend the meeting to ensure that social distancing is maintained.  Masks and hand sanitizer will be available.

All nominees are asked to forward their resumé to the Union office on or before September 30th, 2020

The Election Committee will then meet on October 1, 2020 to perform its duties as per Article 8, Section 8.01 of the Unifor Local 506 By-laws. If an election period is required, the Election Committee will declare it to be from October 15th to October 31st with the online polls open for voting for that two-week time period.  An email will be sent to you shortly with a user name and password that you will need in order to submit your vote online.

As usual, this election will be conducted online and the results will be announced on November 2, 2020.
