The NBFL 14th Blair Doucet Youth Summer Camp

Sisters and Brothers,

Preparations for the 14th Blair Doucet Youth Summer Camp are well under way.  The camp will be held at the Moncton campus of the Université de Monction from August 4 – 9, 2014.  Because the camp has been so successful in the past and by request from participants, the NBFL decided to add an extra day.  The camp will therefore start on Monday and close on Saturday.

The objective of the summer camp is to educate high school students (from grade 9 to grade 12, inclusively) on labour issues.  Students who will become future workers, or even managers, attend workshops on labour history, health and safety, sweatshops, collective bargaining, human rights, etc.

Each participant will be offered a $250 scholarship after their high school graduation plus free room and board at the camp, as well as extracurricular activities as part of the education they will receive.  The instructors come from unions and are recruited by the Federation.

Learn about:

  • your rights as a worker
  • democracy and unions
  • health and safety at work
  • history of unions
  • environment
  • other issues

Have fun:

  • Parlee Beach
  • Make friends with youths from around the province
